So far I think Atticus is a man who thinks that the present is much more important than the past. This can be shown by how important he thinks the trial is and the fact that he never mentioned to his children that he was the best shot in Maycomb County. He also cares a lot about his children, but he wants to raise them right. This is why he punishes them but doesn't hit them. He is a person I would look up to because of his large amounts of patience. Atticus Finch also keeps in mind how the present impacts the future.
